Boston Celtics season recap
The Celtics were one of the better teams in the Eastern Conference when play was suspended, sitting 22 games over .500. They weren’t all that hot heading into the break, though. They were only 5-5 in their last 10 games and 7-6 overall in the division.
Against the spread, Boston was excellent. It was 38-23-3 ATS before play was halted, including a stellar 20-10-2 ATS mark on the road. Of course, there will be no home-court advantage or road games with everything being played in Orlando.

Forsberg: It's been a nauseating ride with these roller-coaster Celtics As you might expect, Boston's recent struggles have hurt the team at the sportsbooks. The C's now have the seventh-best odds. The Boston Celtics began the year at +1,600, and this past Friday, Feb. 26, they hit their low point of +3,000. Only seven other teams in the league have better odds to win the championship. If you care about such things, the Celtics have been given 18/1 odds to win the NBA championship this year. Hey, I think I like the sound of '18.'
Boston was led by SF Jayson Tatum, who was tops on the team in scoring (23.6 PPG) and second in rebounding (7.1 RPG). PG Kemba Walker has been the key to getting the offense in motion, though, averaging 21.8 PPG and 4.9 assists. SG Jaylen Brown and PF Gordon Hayward also chipped in as the third- and fourth-leading scorers, respectively.

Boston Celtics Odds To Win Championship
The Celtics currently have the fifth-best odds to win the NBA title this season, sitting at +2000 – behind the Los Angeles Lakers (+250), Milwaukee Bucks (+280), Los Angeles Clippers (+325) and Houston Rockets (+1200). Boston benefits from playing in the much more favorable Eastern Conference, with the biggest hurdle being Milwaukee.
With everyone healthy, Boston has a good chance to win the championship in this modified season. They don’t have a superstar like Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo, but with four players who are capable of scoring 30 on any given night, the Celtics are as well-rounded as anyone.
The CELTICS are DEFINITELY WORTH A BET AT +2000.
Boston Celtics Eastern Conference odds
To no surprise, the Celtics have the second-best odds to win the East, behind only the Bucks. Milwaukee is the overwhelming favorite at -159, with the Boston sitting at +750 – Toronto is also +750.
It’s a safer bet than taking the Celtics to win the NBA Championship, but the reward is far lower, paying 7.5 to 1. That’s because if Boston were to reach the Finals, it would likely have to play the Lakers, Clippers or Rockets – all among the best in the NBA.
I would PASS on taking the Celtics to win the East, and instead, go for the bigger payoff, putting the money on them to win the NBA Finals.

What are the odds for each team to win the NBA Championship?
Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports
There are favorites, long shots, and dark horses as the NBA starts its run to the championship Monday. BetMGM offers up odds on each team to win the NBA title.
Orlando Magic, Brooklyn Nets
Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports
The longest shots on the board despite all the games being played in the Orlando bubble. The Magic would be an all-time stunner, as would the Brooklyn Nets: Odds: 250-1
Indiana Pacers, Oklahoma City Thunder
Alex Goodlett/Getty Images
A pair of teams that are formidable foes but don’t figure to have what it takes to make the deep run it takes to hoist the Larry O’Brien Trophy. The Pacers and Thunder won’t be eliminated without a tussle, but in the end the oddsmakers see them as teams that will, um, be bounced. Odds: 80-1
Utah Jazz
Ronald Martinez/Getty Images
Donovan Mitchell is one of the top players in the NBA, but he’ll need plenty of help from Jazz teammates to put a scare into foes. This piece of news popped up Sunday on Utah: Mike Conley left the bubble to go home for the birth of his son, the Jazz announced. Odds: 65-1
Philadelphia 76ers, Dallas Mavericks
Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports
The 76ers lost Ben Simmons (knee) and always seem to find a way to get off the course to victory. They draw a tough Boston Celtics team in the first round and winning that best-of-seven will be difficult enough, let alone going all the way. Dallas, meanwhile in the West, has two starts in Luke Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. The Mavericks’ time may not be now but it will come, sooner than people think. Odds: 50-1
Portland Trail Blazers
Troy Wayrynen-USA TODAY Sports
These odds feel way short, especially for a team that barely beat Memphis to advance into the tournament. The Portland Trail Blazers have Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum, and others but they face the Lakers in the first round. Don’t be shocked if their stay is short. Odds: 25-1
Miami Heat
Michael Reaves/Getty Images
Jimmy Butler & Co. are playing in their home state, just not South Beach. The Miami Heat put together a strong team and it has shown in the record over the elongated season. A team to watch. Odds: 22-1
Boston Celtics
Celtics Odds To Win Championship

It feels like there is hardly a season where the Boston Celtics aren’t some kind of playoff threat. Boston won 48 games in the regular season and draws banged-up Philly in the first round. Perfect opportunity to build momentum for a long and strong playoff run. Odds: 14-1
Cavs Odds To Win Championship
Houston Rockets
Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports
The backcourt of Russell Westbrook and James Harden is terrifying. However, it will take more than that duo for the Houston Rockets to do what it takes for a team to win the NBA Championship. Odds: 11-1
Toronto Raptors
The reigning NBA champs lost Kawhi Leonard and still won 53 games. The Toronto Raptors are menacing despite the loss of Leonard. They know what it takes to get the job done and these are sweet odds on a team looking to make it back-to-back. Odds: 9-1
Los Angeles Clippers
Harry How/Getty Images
Kawhi Leonard looks to make it consecutive titles. This time, he is in the West and with the Los Angeles Clippers. There is much anticipation for a duel of the teams from the City of Angels in the Western Conference Finals. If it happens, would it soften the survivor up for the championship round? Odds: 3.2-1
Los Angeles Lakers
Nelson Chenault-USA TODAY Sports
The other half of the Los Angeles force in the playoffs. LeBron James, Anthony Davis & Co. are given a slightly better chance to win it all than the team they share Staples Center with. Will LeBron add a Western Conference championship and title to his resume? Odds: 2.9-1

Boston Celtics Odds To Win Championship
The chalk is the Milwaukee Bucks. Giannis Antetokounmpo isn’t thrilled about the 3-5 mark in the eight games in the Bubble. The Bucks will have to play better to make the oddsmakers look smart in tabbing them as the favorite. Odds: 2.7-1
